Pack Activities
A Cub Scout will take part in many activities with his Den as part of his yearly advancement. These activities are based on your age level/rank. Check your Handbook or ask your Den Leader for more information. Click Here For a pdf of the activites of the current year!
A Cub Scout’s journey will also include activities with the whole Pack, typically as part of the monthly Pack meeting. Here are some of the activities that our Pack participates in throughout the year.
Fall Activities
- Popcorn Sale – Our annual event that funds our other activities for the year
- Raingutter Regatta – Design and build your model boat and race your fellow Scouts! (Ran on odd years.)
- Space Derby – Design and build your model rocket and race your fellow Scouts! (Ran on even years.)

Winter Activities
- Overnight Camp-In – Indoor campout sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 171
- Pinewood Derby – Design and build your model car and race your fellow Scouts!
Spring Activities
- Trail Cleanup – Help your community by keeping the Grimes trails clean
- Family Campout – Camp with your family and Pack at Jester Park
Summer Activities
- Governors Days Parade – Ride along with your fellow Scouts in the city parade
- Twilight Camp (Mid-Iowa Council) – A week-long, evening-only camp at the Maytag Scout Center
- Summer Camp (Mid-Iowa Council) – Camp and do activities with other Scouts at Camp Mitigwa (works towards your next advancement!)
