Parents of Pack 171,
As the Cubmaster of our pack, one of my duties is to be a good steward of its direction and leadership. In the past, it wasn’t always clear to new parents, how the pack operated and how things were organized. We have taken some great strides in organization over the last year, but it’s not without some hard work and dedication of the den leaders in our pack. Rest assured, for every hour you see your den leader, there are likely several other hours he or she has put in to enrich the growth of your son.
In addition to den leaders there are several other non-den leaders in our pack that form a Pack Committee. They include roles like treasurer, advancements chair, and most recently we created a social media chair. This committee meets once a month to plan pack events, chart vision, and keep the pack afloat. We currently have multiple vacancies on this committee. This is where you come in!
Please review the leadership roster. It lists all the roles, the descriptions, and openings.
Most importantly, we need multiple parents to step into fundraising roles for our fall popcorn drive. These roles are for a 1 year term. But in the case of popcorn, it’s actually only a few months.
Please talk this over at home and consider volunteering for one of these roles. Without our popcorn sales, our pack’s ability to operate would be significantly diminished and we would likely resort to increasing dues. We want to avoid this so as many boys as possible can be exposed to the benefits that Scouting has to offer.
If you have any questions about any of these roles, please let me know.
